#48 We Are All Busy
We are all busy. It’s amazing how easy it is to miss the important things in life when times become hectic. I find that when I am at my busiest my brain is on autopilot. Not only do I forget to “smell the roses,” I don’t see them or think about them. When this happens I have to remind myself of a few things.
The first is that I am not a victim to life I’ve built for myself. The first chapter of my first book is all about accountability. Nobody drove me to make poor decisions or do things that I did not have the ability to stop in advance. The circumstances we all live with today happen because we create them.
If you are in a rut, it is likely you are scared to take a risk that will help you achieve your goals. Your future is entirely up to you. The worst thing that can happen is a gut wrenching feeling of regret and never knowing what could have been.
Next I have to remind myself that growth takes time. Human beings grow incredibly slow; and can be permanently damaged very quickly. My son Blake and I are both growing but every day I am realizing how fragile we are. All it takes is one mistake while driving to destroy us.
Nobody is guaranteed anything in life.
What is really important is how we treat other people and how we spend our time. What is most important is realizing that the most satisfying success is preceded by failure.
