Entitlement. Think of a spoiled kid opening gifts on Xmas morning. He (or she) opens present after present only looking for the next one to tear to shreds. There is barely any gratitude and very little appreciation.
Any time we get something we expected or think was earned has very little value. On the opposing side, if we didn’t get something we felt entitled to we become angry or resentful.
“I deserved that.” Yuck.
Appreciation is the most important part or emotion we should have when we receive something. Practice it.
